My Dad helped me get some things ready today for potential flooding. I had to go get a new sump pump, a hose and several covers for our basement drains. I took $100 out of home improvement savings to help cover this. I am so STRESSED out! The not knowing what is going to happen is killing me. DH is going to move everything upstairs tomorrow while I am sandbagging for the city. My work will pay for me to volunteer, so I am going to be sandbagging for 8 hours and helping where I can. We are going to NV tomorrow night so my brother is going to watch our house. Hoping for the best.....

At least you can do and doing something to help yourself.
It's a very good idea to get sump pump etc, it could save you money in the long run. Put them away when this is all over so you don't need to buy them again next time.
Stay safe and all the best

Keep in mind that the pump can only push out as much water as a) the power of the pump, and b) the diameter of the hose. If the pump uses a garden hose, that's fine as long as it can keep up. If you notice the water isn't pumping out and the pump is running, you may need a different option that can handle more water.
And, not to add more worry, but remember that when there's flooding, there typically are power outtages. When the pump doesn't have power, it will not run. You may want to look into a batter back-up pump option, or maybe even a battery device that could run the pump you just bought.
Best wishes to you - you'll make it through it all. We always do
