Debt Update - 7/22/16

July 25th, 2016 at 08:55 pm

While I am happy that debt is consistently going down, I am falling into a very frustrated place with progress. Patience has never been a virtue of mine!

Currently we are only paying minimums on everything because our next goal is to pay off the Mom Loan (Currently at $26,800 so it's going to be a long, long, time), and we are going to do a lump payoff on that, the same way we did with the first Mom Loan. But things keep coming up (as they do in life!)...the cost of the new puppy plus new vet bills, we booked a short weekend trip to Vegas for the end of Sept since we cancelled the cruise we wanted to have some kind of vaca, repair on AC for one of the vehicles....just multiple $100+ bills. We have done a good job cutting back on eating out and casino (though there is always room for improvement there) and also reducing grocery bills and eating out of the pantry more. Hopefully those savings will start to reflect in our checking account soon. We are also going to change our 6 monthly savings deposits of $25 each ($25 to 2 different accounts everytime I get paid and $25 to 1 savings account everytime MO gets paid) to $50 each, which would be an additional $150 a month to saving (which would get us closer to paying off the Mom Loan). We also have $1000 a month from rent going to savings which is a lot, but it's only once a month so few and far between deposits. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Celebrations for this update:
-Total debt went down $957.53 in the last 2 weeks!
-Race #1 (Rental #2) went under the next $1000 mark!
-Race #3 (Rental #1) went under the next $1000 mark!
-Next update will have Race #2 back to the starting point from moving things around.
-Total debt went under the next $1000 mark!
-Total debt payoff since we combined MO's debt with mine on 6/19/15 passed $50K!

Just a summer check-in (Pic of puppies!)

July 21st, 2016 at 12:57 am

Wow I can't believe how fast this summer is going! Living in the Midwest we wait so long for those summer months and then they always fly by so fast!

Things are good and busy. Pretty much the usual. I have been doing well on my 3 softball teams and that is super fun, but will be happy to have a few nights back when the season ends for sure!

We have been spending tons of time at the lake on the weekends, getting lots of outside time, swimming, using the and fishing. I even caught my first fish, a really nice walleye! Here is my view from the paddleboard this weekend, relaxing with my book and a beverage! Let me tell you I was acrobatic not to dunk my book or phone!

I have a garden this year for the first time in about 10 years. It is our first summer in our new house and I found out quickly the garden is too small! But our corn, 2 kinds of squash, and peas are coming in nicely. Carrots and watermelon don't seem to be doing too well. Next year I will be better prepared (I have no tools to plant this year and actually used a kitchen spoon to plant! All my gardening tools are still back in the shed at my old house.

Still no OT at my work. Going on 7 months now. I really hope that when the weather changes the OT comes back. Not only is the money extremely helpful, but we are currently working on items from 7/1/16.....20 days behind!

The next few weekends will be filled with several softball tournaments out of town. Hopefully we can keep our spending to a minimum for food, gas and lodging.

I started tracking every penny spent a few days ago. I haven't done that for a few years. I think it is already helping with reigning in spending.

Dietbets are going ok....I need to lose about 3 more lbs to win the next set. I think I have about 10 days to do that, so I need to make sure I continue to make smart choices. I started running outside as well as on the treadmill. Not far yet, but have to start somewhere!

Our new puppy is adjusting very well and the 2 dogs are best buddies already. Here is a pic of their first trip together to the lake. And a little snoozing pic. Smile

I have no idea why this keeps loading upside down....I tried it like 4 times and it just wants to be difficult....

End of first round dietbets - 3 New ones started!

July 5th, 2016 at 08:50 pm

We finished our initial 3 dietbets, and we both won all 3! We made a total of $46.54 each between the 3 of them (the $100 dietbet paid surprisingly low....I suppose too many people won, so we didn't get paid much).

The old set of dietbets ended last week, and we waited till after the holiday weekend to start our new ones yesterday. I was happy I was only up a few lbs over the long weekend and should see those gone in a few days. We started 3 more dietbets and they end at the beginning of August.

I really want to beat MO, I will be starting running tomorrow to add to my current softball, paddleboarding, P90X etc. We bought a treadmill off of FB for $150, seems to have a lot of options, so I think it was a good deal! My Dr. also put me on some new medication as they have diagnosed me with PCOS, so hopefully the new medication will also help me lose some weight. My goal is to be at 7.3% lost by 8/1/16. (Currently at 3.1% lost).

Free Razor Coupon!

July 5th, 2016 at 08:39 pm

MO received a coupon for a free Gillette Profusion Razor in the mail. I had been waiting for a deal at CVS to maximize the coupon, but they haven't had much for razor deals lately. So I used it this last week and did get an ok deal to add some refill cartridges as well.

Gillette Fusion Proshield Razor
Regular Price $12.49
-$12.49 Mfr Free Razor Coupon
Final Price = Free!!

Gillette Fusion Proshield Cartridge 4 Pack
Regular Price $24.49
-$5.00 Mfr Coupon
*Received $5.00 EB for buying both the razor and the cartridge together
Final Price = $17.49
Tax +$2.40
Total = $19.89

I also had a CVS GC with me for $1.91, so the total I paid OOP was $17.98 for $39.38 worth of shaving items!

Keeping these for MO, hopefully they last him a long time, the refill razors says they last for a month and MO only shaves every few days, so maybe between the 5 razors they would last him a year??
