After Christmas Deal

December 29th, 2010 at 06:16 am

I mentioned that our Christmas tree fell over and the stand broke. So had to get new tree. Figured it was best to look now at the after Christmas sales rather then wait till next Christmas season. Found a $465 tree (WHAT! Who would pay that much for a tree??) at JCP on sale 75% off, plus I had a $10 off coupon. So got it for $110. Saved $355!! WOW! I think the tree was way to expensive to start with, but am happy with the deal I got. Hopefully I will never have to buy another tree for the rest of my life.

Merry Christmas!

December 25th, 2010 at 08:30 pm

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy Christmas! I am staying home today and just relaxing. We do our Christmas on Christmas Eve so just enjoying a nice slow day today. My Mom is going to come do a puzzle with me and watch movies. I got 4 new Wii games, so am excited to try those out. Michael Jackson The Experience, Wii Zumba, the Biggest Loser and Mario Kart. So lots of fun workout games. I am already really good at MJ! THRILLER! LOL! Should be a nice cheap weekend. A good time to work on 2011 goals and to think back on the successes of the last year and what we can work on more in the next year!

I haven't decided what to do with my $50 yet.

So here is the update:

$20K Update - Casino Win!

December 19th, 2010 at 04:40 pm

We went to the casino last night and after about 7 hours of gambling came out about $240.00 ahead! YEAH! I usually only pay penny machines so was really excited. I was betting .60 cents and won $60, and then a few minutes later was betting .30 cents and won $70! The rest of the time was $5 - $10 wins added up. So gave the $40 to DH and put the $200 into savings, along with $15 extra to even things out.

New Washer and Dryer

December 13th, 2010 at 02:05 am

We went back to Lowes today and purchased the washer and dryer. We had shopped around at Sears, Lowes and Menards and found the best deal at Lowes. We got a Whirlpool frontload set. Regularily $599 each on sale for $449 each ($300 savings), plus a 5 year warranty $180, free delivery and take away of the old set. I signed up for a Lowes Card and got 6 months no interest. I was approved for $6000 on the Lowes card. So time to go crazy at Lowes! Ha ha just kidding. Anyways so they are delivering it next week. When I got home I transferred the total from our Home Improvement Account and part from the EF into a seperate account for the Washer and Dryer. So now it can sit and make me interest for 6 months until we pay the Lowes bill. It wasn't the cheapest set available, but we are hoping to have a nice set that we can use for a long time. Since the dryer still works we will try to sell that at our next rummage sale.

Repair, Replace and Fix.......now repeat!

December 12th, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Ok.....so I realize that as a homeowner you have a lot of things to keep up on, fix, repair and replace. But really, does something have to break EVERY day??!! In the past 2-3 months we have had:

-Lock on patio door broke, so we have to lock it by putting a board in the slats so no one can break in until we are ready to buy a new one ($$$)
-Car radio/clock died
-Car battery died
-Hot tub went from 104 degrees down to 76 degrees, by the time repair guy gets here it is down to 50 degrees, we then find out we have a "friend" who is chewing threw the wires and so had to get all of the wires replaced and buy "friend" traps
-Bathroom cupboard FELL off of the wall. Completely fell off the wall onto the floor and hit the opposite wall, so now there is also a hole in the wall where it landed. Thank goodness I was not home, that would have scared the daylights out of me. And if I was in the bathroom I probabaly would have died. (literally died as if I was on the pot it would have crushed me!)
-Found out at least 3 outlets in our house do not work, one is the only outlet in the bathroom (UGH!) one is in the backyard and one is in the gararge.
-Washer started smoking yesterday right as we were leaving to go to a Christmas get together. The washer is VERY old, it was the washer that was left in the house by the previous owners, so it was free to us and I am grateful that it lasted 3 years...it is avocado green and is ready to retire.

So there is my big whine for the day! Smile

DH and I shopped around for washer and dryer sets today and will probably get one within the next week or so.

We also found a good deal on a TV, got a 32' for $250 (after a $100 mail in rebate). We are going to put that TV in the basement so I have an area to do my Wii Fit. Smile

Tis the season for gift cards!

December 2nd, 2010 at 01:30 am

Christmas Season is a great time to get discounted gift cards. We bought a $50 GC from Applebees and got a $10 GC for FREE! We got the same deal at TGIFridays. We will keep the giftcards and use them in the next coming months. I am sure there are a lot of other places running this kind of deal, and if it is somewhere that you use regularily it is a great bargain.
