Car repairs......sad!

December 17th, 2011 at 08:04 pm

My heater had not been working in my car for a few weeks and my radio wasn't working again. I paid over $500 back in June to have my body control module replaced. Now I needed a new thermastat, intake manifold and water pump. Frown Nice Christmas gift huh! $900 later my heat and radio are working....but I am going to have to get a new radio because there is something wrong with this one and it keeps sucking my battery and now the CD player is not working...so frustrating! So we just got to $15K, but it will be very short lived due to Christmas and this massive car repair. Why can't we get away from 14K! It's baffling!

How old is your car? If it's older, or even if it's not, why spend the money to have an installed radio/CD player? Couldn't you just get by with a portable CD player?

My car is a 2002, Mailbu. I had driven around without a radio for a few weeks already and was starting to go crazy without it. My time in the car is one of the only times I get to listen to what I want and relax....if I am not in my car or sleeping I am almost always at work...so I really do need the radio to keep my sanity. I will have the car until it dies, hopefully at least 5 more years. Radios cost about $100 at Walmart, and I have a friend that can install it for me.

Do you not have an iPod or mp3 player you can listen to? And personally, I think it will be a miracle if it lasts that long! I know a few people who have had Chevy Malibus, and it seems like once they get past 100k, trouble, trouble, trouble! Hopefully yours will be the exception.

No I don't have anything I can hook up to listen to in my car. Frown As of right now it is working fine, so hopefully that keeps up. My Malibu is a 2002 and it has over 140K miles on it.
