$20K Update - Biggest Loser Money

July 8th, 2014 at 12:45 pm

Now that I have my own savings set up I added my Biggest Loser Winnings. Once everything is split I should still have about $16K or more in savings. Crazy to think only a few years ago it seemed impossible to get to that number with 2 people working towards it and now I have that much on my own! Hoping once everything is done that I can keep moving forward somehow to get to $20K on my own.

Personally things are going ok. I really do like my new guy a lot, but still feel sad and cry often. He is obviously aware of the situation and that I am not in great working order right now. I just hope he is patient enough and can understand that it may be a long time before I can be fully functioning as someone else's GF.

Have a wedding out of state this weekend and am looking forward to getting away from everything a bit, however, not excited for my first wedding alone and my first wedding since the split.

What is meant by joint savings?

That wedding might be hard. Do you have some good friends to lean on there?

It is my cousin's wedding, so all of my family will be there. I am a major cryer....so it will prob be terrible....just focusing on making it through the ceremony, after that I should be good.

Joint savings is the savings that is still mine and XH, we haven't divided that yet as we still have some bills that will be coming in that need to be paid by both of us. Once the house business is done (should be done by the end of July) then we can disperse everything evenly. I will get just slightly more then 1/2 of what is left as he will need to pay me for half of the refi costs (half will prob be about $2K), so should have roughly another $10K to add to my personal savings once everything is done.

Hope you'll treat out-of-state wedding as a holiday. Pleasant vibes sent your way. I don't know if your family knows your current status and hope you'll not have to offer explanation. If you do, I suggest you have a simple, unemotional, rehearsed spiel. Something like 'X chose to leave and I'm moving forward as best I can.' Use any acting skills to keep it low key, flat, no drama, and unemotional. Just don't respond to family dramatics and there is nothing to be gained by saying anything negative. I suggest you do your best to move the attention to the bride where it belongs.

Snafu, yes I agree. I don't want to be any kind of distraction or drama at the wedding.
