$20K Update - Over $6K!

August 31st, 2016 at 03:58 pm

We had our first night of fall coed on Monday night and we were paid everyone's fees, just missing $30 from one teammate who wasn't there that night. Once we get that we will toss that into savings as well. We also got rent from Rental #2 and put half of that into savings, the other half goes towards paying the mortgage for that house.

We have another $400 from the renter in our basement, but I think we are going to hang on to that for now as we have a large and in charge party next weekend at the cabin for an end of year softball jam for one of his men's teams and we will need money for booze and casino (food is already arranged). So rather then put it in savings now and taking it out next week I think we will just hang on to it and whatever we bring home can go into savings.

Current Balance $5,295.00
+$50.00 My Payday to Our Savings (9/1)
+$600.00 Rent from Rental #2
+$270.00 Coed Softball Reimbursements

Major progress on the garage! Before and After Pics of Man Cave!

August 29th, 2016 at 04:43 pm

This was our first weekend home in I don't know how long and we spend a good chunk of it cleaning out the garage. Got lots of junk organized and tons thrown away! Love getting organized so you can actually see what you have!

This is a little storage room that is built off the side of the garage. When we moved into this house in Sept of last year this room became a dumping ground for everything that was in MO's old garage. I got MO's hunting, fishing, golf, tools, etc. into organized areas. We also installed a closet rod and lofted it so all of his hunting clothes are in one place, but out of the way since they are only used a few weeks a year. Super happy with how this turned out!

This winter we would like to work on the peg board that is already up in there to hang MO's tools for easier access and he would also like a tool bench for Christmas, so we will see about that as well. I love the high ceilings in here, lots of room to add shelves when we get to it!

All of this junk is out of the garage! Plus a load of 6 old TVs, AC Unit, and washer to the dump!

Zucchini Madness!!

August 25th, 2016 at 01:17 am

This is my first year having a garden in something like 10 years.....apparently I forgot that you only need to plant 1-2 zucchini plants.....so we have mega amounts of zucchini! I have been trying lots of new yummy recipes. Parmesan Garlic Zucchini Fries, Grilled Zucchini with lemon garlic sauce, and chocolate zucchini cake with homemade chocolate frosting have been favorites!

Yesterday I used my food processor for the first time and shredded up a couple of giant guys! I portioned it into 2 cup servings so I can freeze and use it for muffins and cakes this winter!

(Please ignore my repeated misspelling of zucchini!)

Tonight I made zucchini noodles with my spiralizer and cooked them with Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, onions, garlic and spices for a very delicious, and a little healthier then normal chicken Alfredo!

I found a recipe online for a Blueberry Lemon Zucchini Cake, I think I will try that next!

$20K Update

August 22nd, 2016 at 01:50 am

Disappointed with this! A big chunk of us going down is because we had to front the $420 roster fee for our coed team. We will get all of that back (minus the $30 a piece for MO and I) but for now we had to pay it ourselves. As we get paid from our teammates we will put the money back into savings. Other then that just mainly overspending on laziness of not cooking and grabbing snacks at convenience stores. Gotta get back on the stick!

I should be able to put a chunk into savings when I get paid on Friday, and we will have rent again next week.

Debt Update - 8/19/16

August 21st, 2016 at 11:44 pm

This is the 4th update in a row that we have went under the next $1000 mark for total debt! YES! In addition we were actually just $30 away from going down a full $1000 in debt this update, so we threw an extra $35 at Rental #1 just to get over $1000 paid down this update.

My 3 nights a week of softball have finally ended for the summer and I am happy to have about 10-12 hrs a week back in my schedule! Fall coed softball starts in just a few weeks, but that will only be one night a week, and MO and I play on the same team so at least it is quality time! We are hoping to have a rummage sale in Sept, and that should help pull in some extra cash for savings.

Celebrations for this update:
-Total debt went down $1004.32 in the last 2 weeks!
-Rental #1 passed the next $1000 payoff mark!
-Our Mortgage passed the next $1000 payoff mark!

$20K Update - Back over $5K!

August 8th, 2016 at 02:39 pm

Whoo hoo, we are back over $5K! I don't think I ever want to be below that mark again in my life. It's just too stressful having savings that low. We have no plans to dip into savings except for a quick weekend trip to Vegas at the end of September, and we are pretty good at bringing home a good chunk of what we take with, so shouldn't be too much of a change (and hey maybe it will even go up!). So for the foreseeable months/years, I am hoping to just go up, up, up!

August 8th, 2016 at 02:23 pm

I update every 2 weeks (every payday for MO) and this is the 3rd update in a row that we have went under the next $1000 mark for total debt! That is exciting progress! Looking at the payments for next update, that one we should go under the next $1000 mark again! WHOOT!

We did change our auto deposits from $25 to $50, so that will definitely help the bottom line to get savings to go up while debt is going down!
