Big Vet and Heating Bills

September 11th, 2019 at 01:26 pm

We took all 3 of our puppy girls to the vet....at.the.same.time. #neveragain

It was a big crazy mess and included a giant bill of almost $700.00! UGH! The new baby needed her baby shots and the big girls needed their yearly stuff. They all have something going on and had to get meds for all 3 too (included in the big bill). I put that on the Discover so we will get our cash back rewards.

Then we also got the bill to fill our propane tank...$872! They do offer a discount for paying within 10 days with cash or check so we did that and got $80 off and the new bill was $792.00 So that was nice to get a big savings on the bill.

I turned in our property management hours for the year and it came out to $787.00 so that money was used to pay the propane bill. The vet bill will probably have to come out of savings once the Discover bill comes.

Donations for fire victims - Couponing to the Rescue!

July 19th, 2019 at 09:26 am

There was a large apartment fire in my home town this last week. Over 40 apartments were destroyed and the occupants displaced. Thankfully no one was hurt, and from what I have heard most of the pets were also saved.

There is a hotel right next to the apartment building and they set up a homebase there to collect donation items.

I had my 9 year old nephew over at my house and I had him help me shop through my store for items to donate. We were able to fill a big box with new items to help, bags of socks, shoes, depends, many boxes of toothpaste, dental floss, baby toys, baby wash, and a canvas bag. A friend of mine picked up donations from our small town and took them down to donate.

I am so glad that couponing gives me the opportunity to be able to help. I had never had to deal with the devastation of a fire and hope these small donations can help bring some kind of comfort for the victims at this time. I am also very thankful for the opportunity to teach my nephew about giving back. He is a very smart and sweet boy and he really enjoyed helping me pack up the items.

A very rainy week, softball and rental updates

May 24th, 2019 at 07:56 pm

It's been very rainy, cold and gloomy here. It rained almost everyday this week and the entire day today. I'm afraid of what this mosquito season will bring!

I had softball on Tuesday and that is going well. I play on 2 different teams, and I was worried that I would be a bit rusty after missing most of last season with my pregnancy but it's been good. I'm feeling strong while hitting and smart on defense.

We have a lot going on with rentals. We will be doing a cement patio towards the end of June on Rental #1.

Rental #2 currently has a pastor and his family in it, they moved here for a year long internship. The internship will end in a few months, and we received an email from the head pastor that they have another pastor moving up for the next internship and they would like to just transition to the next family. YES!! That would be wonderful if that works out and we don't even have to look for a new renter.

The 4 unit we are the property managers for has been a headache. One of the units was a BF/GF who had a child together. They have lived there for a few years. Some months ago the GF got a new BF....so there was tension obviously and no one actually informed us that she had moved out, or requested to modify the lease (one of the neighbors let us know about the move out). Now the BF has up and moved to Virginia (we are in the Midwest) without telling us and without paying May rent. The GF, even though she wasn't living there anymore has been cleaning things out as a lot of her kids stuff was still there. Going over tomorrow to see what kind of a mess we have to deal with.

The other 3 units there are also moving out soon as they were all full of out of state workers and their jobs are ending soon, so we may go from a full apartment building to an empty building in one month.

Discover Fraud Alerts

May 24th, 2019 at 07:08 pm

I tried to order a Father's Day gift for MO on Monday and my card rejected saying fraud alert. I contacted Discover Card Customer Service (who is always AMAZING) and found out my card was flagged for being used in Georgia (I live in the Midwest and have never been to GA). I let them know the transactions were not mine and they shut down the card and removed the charges. I received new cards in the mail the very next day! Also all of my automatic charges and payments were all moved over to the new card. I love Discover, they always do such an awesome job. So it could have been a big mess, but all it was was a 5 min phone call and everything is already back to normal!

My car is dead

April 11th, 2019 at 12:02 pm

Well my Malibu finally died. It was a 2002 so it's definitely had a long life! I got it in 2008 for $4000 and it made it to 230,383 miles and over 11 years!!

We don't have anywhere to scrap it close to use, but MO was able to take it to the dump for free.

We took the license plates, CD player and battery. We were able to move the battery into MO's old 1997 Cavalier and we will now drive that as our commute car until it dies. Our other two vehicles are our old truck and our new truck, and with being an hr away from town we definitely need a car for mileage/fuel costs.

A cold AND food poisoning.....seriously!?

March 12th, 2019 at 01:36 pm

MO has been dealing with a "Man Cold" for a week or so and I was doing my best to avoid it.....but it found me. I've had symptoms for a few days but yesterday was the first day I started really feeling sick. I never sleep well since we lost the babies and the night before I was laying there till 5am..UGH! So last night I took a sleeping pill so I could get some rest and fight this cold. So I fall asleep pretty quickly, but wake up with terrible stomach cramps and lucky me I have food poisoning! Thankfully I was able to make it to the garbage can, I haven't thrown up since morning sickness and that is one thing I don't miss!! I took a shower, brushed my teeth and went back to bed. I think what made me sick was I had a few pieces of Fontina Cheese as a snack before bed. I normally use it in cooked dishes, like brussel sprouts, but just thought I would slice off a few pieces and eat it with some sandwich meat as a small snack. If you've never had Fontina, it is a soft cheese, like Blue Cheese. So that is my best bet as to what made me sick. Feeling better from that today, but cold symptoms are still here and I need to get better because we go to Laughlin for vaca in 6 days!! At least hubby is on the mend now so that's good that one of us can take care of the other...lol.

Giftcard Inventory

January 21st, 2019 at 09:27 am

Wow our giftcard balance is crazy! We used several since last year and still the total went up $600 since last January. I really want to get some of these used up, I hate to think of losing any from getting lost, stolen or destroyed. I do have them all together for safe keeping.

I have a day off next week to have a bunch of apts, including a massage so that will use a $60 massage giftcard. I also plan on going shopping that day in between my apts and possibly using up the JCP, Target and Kohls cards, as well as picking up dinner somewhere that we have a giftcard for.

The Visa cards expire in June, we had planned to use those for car seats for the twins. Now we are going to use those to pay the deductible for the truck repair, and maybe also for our rental car when we go to Laughlin in March.

The Scheels cards are MO's and he has been saving those up to get a new gun.

Keeping busy and trying to breathe

November 21st, 2018 at 10:57 am

Today is two weeks since I delivered our twins. It feels like minutes ago, and also an eternity ago.

Both MO and I are doing our best to stay busy and stay positive. It can be a struggle every second... and then I find a few hrs here and there of calm. I wish so hard I could find a way to keep being "ok". When I find those small breaks where I feel "ok" it feels so wonderful to not feel completely destroyed.

We had my postpartum visit a few days ago. No answers as to why I went into pre-mature labor as the pregnancy was 100% healthy up till then, and I had just had a regular OB apt 10 days prior to going into labor, and there were no issues or red flags at all.
So I am very scared that if I am ever lucky enough to get pregnant again, that the same thing could happen, since they don't know the cause, therefore no way to help prevent.

I have a few family and friends who have been making sure I am still breathing. My Mom, my BF and MO have been awesome. MO especially, he is obviously dealing with his own loss and grief with this, but he still holds me up everyday, and his goal is to get me to laugh and smile at least once a day, which he has accomplished each day...which in itself is a miracle.
I am so incredibly lucky to have him, and that really does keep me going through each terrible minute.

Also my two dogs have been an enormous help. They know mama is so sad (and some part of me thinks that they miss and mourn the babies too) and they comfort me every chance they get with cuddles and kisses. Dogs are simply amazing.

Thank you to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. We are doing our best to continue on for our babies and be the kind of parents they would be proud of. One day and one step at a time.

Our Angels

November 14th, 2018 at 12:33 pm

Iโ€™m so so sad to share this news, but as you all know, after many years of waiting my husband and I were expecting twins. We now have two angel babies watching over us.

๐Ÿ’—Ember Lynne ๐Ÿ‘ผ
๐Ÿ’™Bridger John ๐Ÿ‘ผ

At 21 weeks I unexpectedly went into labor and was hospitalized. They were able to stop my labor and put me on 100% inverted bedrest. We did everything we could possibly do to keep our sweet babies safe in my tummy. After 11 days of hospitalization, constant monitoring and full bedrest, I went into labor again at 22 weeks and 5 days and they werenโ€™t able to stop it this time.
We lost both of our babies. ๐Ÿ’” Bridgerโ€™s heart rate was lost sometime in the night, he is very handsome and was our first sweet angel. Ember was born and we got to hear her cry, she was taken to the NICU and she fought hard for about 4hrs before they took her off the ventilator because there was nothing more they could do for her. We got to hold her as she passed and our baby girl princess was our second angel. I lost a lot of blood after I delivered them and became unresponsive so they had to take me to the OR and do a blood transfusion. My husband stayed with Ember while I was in the OR and she even grabbed his finger. They were both little fighters from the start. We are obviously completely heartbroken. The outpouring of love and support from friends and family has been overwhelming and so appreciated. They are missed and loved more then they will ever know.

My husband stayed with me in my room every single night, I dont know what I would do without my wonderful husband being my rock through all of this and making sure I knew he was always there no matter what I needed and how lost I was/am feeling.
