I live in the Midwest and we are preparing for flooding. I am trying not to freak out or worry too much as 2 years ago it was supposed to flood, we moved everything upstairs and were all worried and then nothing happened. Apparently this year the river is supposed to be much higher.....and our city is in major sand bag mode. Hopefully everything will be ok, we should know more by Friday.

I am in metro Chicagfo and we have a flood watch going too. We had 1.9 inches iof rain in about 6 hours Wed. My street flooded curb to curb.

It is currently raining and has been most of the night. Street is again flooded curb to curb.

We are currently under a flood watch and a lot of our streets have been shut down due to water over the road.

Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your safety.

If you have been flooded before move your stuff to higher ground, I would be moving it as some people in Australia will never get back on their feet after all the flooding here. Our local shopping centre just opened yesterday and was flooded in January.

Best of luck to you for no flooding.

Thanks everyone. We have never flooded before. Apparently we had record rains this year and also the weather stayed cold for a long time, so all of the snow is melting in the mountains now and between that and the rain the river is extremely high. A lot of our neighbors have been sandbagging. We are not, but we are moving everything upstairs. More info in the next entry.
