Got rid of some more movies

March 24th, 2013 at 11:01 pm

Wow ten days without a post...that may be a record for me! Well today I went through our movies (I'm still working in that dumb extra room, but it is slow...and not steady). I took out 15 VHS (yes we still have some of those) and 3 DVDs for the rummage sale. We have been trying to transition our VHS to DVDs so we check out the $5 bin at Walmart and get them from there when we see them. Today we found 2, Indepence Day and The Sandlot. Still probably have close to 45 movies to move over. Saves a ton of room on the movie shelf.

Do you regularly watch not yet replaced VHS movie tapes? This winter we borrowed DVDs from the library. Most were TV series we'd missed. I think we must be working a lot harder than I realize because lately we turn on a DVD and fall asleep about mid way. lol

I notice that Goodwill has replaced VHS movies from bookshelf space with DVDs. VHS tapes are likely in boxes in the corner where you can buy a 'mystery' box. Spring cleaning is a terrific ime to purge all those items you no longer use, love or find useful

We don't watch our VHS much anymore just because they are so inconvenient....not being able to skip to where you want to watch and having to sit and wait to rewind etc. I watched one of them a month ago and I found it really tried my patience! But they are movies we love so if we are able to find them for $5 or less that is worth it to me to have them to watch whenever I want. I go through them all every year or so and pick out one or two that neither of us feels like we HAVE to have anymore. But we no longer buy new movies, if I don't get a movie for a BD or Christmas present I just watch on Netflix...I can't remember the last time we bought a new movie for ourselves.

Sounds like you are making one headway.
