No More OT :(

January 15th, 2016 at 02:16 pm

My job has been on unlimited OT for the last 2-3 years. Then 2 days ago, at our busiest time of year, and with no warning we were told there is no more OT. NONE! I'm totally bummed out! I have always worked at least some OT every week, usually about 5-6 hrs a week but anywhere from 2-15 hrs. This is going to be a hard hit to my paycheck for sure. I am hoping this won't be permanent and OT will come back soon, but I have no idea. So until then we will need to be even more diligent with spending (bad timing since we already have a min vaca planned this weekend).

My parents have several rentals and one of them is located in the town next to mine. They are having a lot of issues with their renters (specifically two that are now in jail!) so they will need to get that apartment ready for renting and that will be a way for me to get some extra money helping with cleaning and fixing up the apartment.

Has there been a change in the executive line-up? Did the OT budget blow through the boundaries? What is the current gossip? Were the shareholders disappointed in the last quarter's dividend? Does the oil/gas industry and demand that fracking rules be followed to the 'T,' impact your bank in a negative way? Does your supervisor see any other changes coming on stream?

Are you now expected to work OT without being paid?

Snafu - No, IDK, I haven't heard a thing, IDK, I don't work at a bank, I work for a health insurance company, not that I know of. LOL, sorry I have no info!

Livingalmostlarge - No, not at all. If we stay 5 mins late we HAVE to put it down as OT and get paid time and a half.
