MO got his coaching check today! YEAH! It was almost $500 more then we expected so that was great news. It was $2493, so he put $2400 into our savings, and then the $93 he used to pay 2 big weeks for the 52 Week Challenge for 2016. We now have that paid up to the current week, plus weeks 48, 49, 50, 51 and 52 are also paid so when we get to the end of the year that will be a breeze!

We got rent, but decided not to put it into savings yet. We have a bill that came in for hot tub repairs that was much higher then expected so we are waiting to straighten that out before adding that extra money to savings just yet.
I did take in our coin jar though and that added $55 to savings as well as savings interest.

Finally time to pay for the new garage door for rental #2, so I pulled that out of savings. We also are starting to feel some effects of no OT for me and I had to pull $450.00 out of savings. We had to take the money out of savings for the property taxes on both of our rentals (neither of them is escrowed), but that was planned for and expected, so we are just happy we have the money there to use it when needed. Plus the bill was actually $2266 for Rental #2, but we are only having to take out $1800 from checking because we had enough in savings to cover the rest!
But in fun news, we have all kinds of snowflakes this week!
I worked an arm wrestling tourney for my Dad this week and made $50.
We also won $ for Super Bowl pools. We did one at our Super Bowl Party, put in $60, won $60 (so I will put the $60 in savings since it was already considered "spent") and MO had one with some friends, put in $20, won $120! Sweet! MO also won $90 more through a bar, but we haven't received that money yet so I won't be adding that until we actually receive it.
Plus FB sales, and Bball money (2 games this week). I love seeing those snowflakes add up!

Trying to not get too excited seeing savings this high as I know a lot will be paid out in bills very soon. But for now it makes me happy! The casino win was a big help, and also had some rent money and some little snowflakes here and there to add in.
Going forward we should be able to put $600 a month from Rental #1, and $400 a month from one of the guys living in our basement into savings. We can pay all of our bills without that income so we will be putting those in savings every month for now.
We also filed our taxes and we are getting back $4600! Hoping to see that in the next few weeks as well!

We have also been trying to pay some of the bigger weeks on the 52 week challenge so that the end isn't so tough on us. I'm not sure how I want to track that so I am just going to keep tracking weekly even though there is actually more in there then it shows.

We are back from mini vaca. MO was very surprised and we had a great time! Now we should be back to normal life till April-ish. Really going to work hard to cut back on unnecessary expenses, namely eating out, gambling and fuel. Also since OT is cancelled for now, I have been talking with my parents about doing work on their rentals and also possibly putting some hrs in at MO's grocery store. Oh also good news we talked to MO's bro and he is considering moving in as a roommate to my old house to live with MO's friend who currently lives in half of the house. That will be an extra $600 a month for rent PLUS an extra $100-$150 a month in saved utilities! We will make things work!

Added in my FB Sales. So close to $12K, but I don't think we are going to get there. I am taking MO on a mini surprise vaca over the long weekend. He hasn't had any days off other than Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day and he really needs a break. This coming weekend he doesn't have to work and they also aren't having practice or games for his Bball team so I am finally able to sneak him out of here! I booked a room for a casino about 4 hrs away, they have a pool/hot tub, gambling, 3-4 places to eat and my cousin and her BF are also going to meet us there. I am doing my best to not tell MO. I plan to just load him in the car Friday after work and surprise him that way! So hard not to spill the beans! Should be a fun trip!
Oh and good news we paid our last week for the 2015 Weekly Challenge! So that money is set aside and it is NOT included in the $20K Challenge so that is $1378 more we actually do have in savings. We plan on saving that for a trip we are taking in April.
In not so fun news, we have been informed that MO's old house (Rental #1) needs to be surveyed to see if it is in the flood plain or not....and the survey is going to cost about $1200. Booooo! If we get the ok that we are NOT in the flood plain, that will save us about $2K per year in flood insurance costs so hoping that it turns out ok. The map that we got shows part of the yard in the flood plain, and part is not, so I think it is worth the cost of the survey to see if we don't need to pay for flood insurance.
We are STILL waiting for a bill for the New AC at Rental #2, and some other repair bills on our current home. The bill for the new garage door at Rental #2 is due at the end of Feb, and property taxes on Our House and Rental #2 are all due in Feb as well. After this mini vaca it will need to be nose to the grindstone for awhile to get all of these big bills handled!

I went shopping this weekend with my Mom and used a few giftcards. $20 at Bed, Bath & Beyond on some baskets to organize my bathroom cupboard, $20 at Walmart for some tank-tops (only $1.68 each!) and a 2016 planner, $20 at Target for a gift for my in-laws, and $20 at the movies with my SILs. I transferred $80 to savings for using those giftcards. I also got rent from one of the guys living in our basement and interest on our savings account.

Not a good update, but this is WHY we have savings! Soooooo many extra expenses last month and that coupled with Christmas shopping and we had to take a big chunk out of savings. Moving right along with savings. We should be able to cash flow Christmas without having to take out any money from savings for presents. We also got one of the home improvements/repair bills we were waiting for ($118 for plumber at the house we are residing in) and I was able to pay that one without taking out of savings as well. Hopefully can keep going up for a little while!

We finally got my walls repaired and painted in my old house (Rental #2). XH had punched about 7 different holes in the walls on different occasions when he was drunk...and then never even fixed them. They are probably 3-4 yrs old, soooooo happy to finally have them repaired, kind of physically hiding some of the scars of my past. MO's Aunt has a painting and drywall company so she did the work and only charged $850 to repair and paint my very high ceiling entryway, kitchen, living room, stairwell, hallway and bathroom. It looks great! And one stop closer to being able to get a renter in the upstairs of the house. All that is left is new carpet in the living room, finishing moving misc items, and a deep cleaning.
I also got a $650 bill from some physical therapy claims I had this summer from a softball injury. That bill I will pay from my HSA.
MO won the football pics last week! He actually tied for first, and then they tied on the tie breaker, so he won $35 instead of $70.

We moved all of my furniture and 90% of my belongings today. I am EXHAUSTED! And now MORE unpacking...ugh! Just trying to take it slow so as not to be overwhelmed. Continue to post several items for sale daily.

I won the football pics again! I have won 2 of the 7 weeks so far....and another week I tied for 1st, but lost the tie breaker. Pretty good for someone that doesn't know anything about football and just pics randomly....lol! I have sold $30 more worth of stuff on FB this week, but I have a bunch more sales waiting for pick up, so I am going to wait to deposit that for now. Also should have rental income in the next few days that we can put some of it into savings.
We are moving my furniture from my old house to our new house this weekend so it will be a busy one! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
