I finished the 3rd of my 4 dressers. Here are the before and after pictures.
Before
After
I sold that big old CD player at the last rummage sale for $5.00. The CD player only worked once in awhile and it was so big and took up so much room. I am going to ask for a nice little one for Christmas.
I finished going through the drawers as well.

We had our "big" rummage sale this weekend, it went great! I will post about that within the next few days. But I wanted to show how I keep organized for the sales.
As soon as I get the items I document them on my blog and also in a notebook I have specifically for my rummage sale purchases.
Then I mark them and put them away in their organized spots.
Here is my closet where I keep my rummage sale stockpile. I have these storage bins labeled for different types of items:
-Lotion
-Make up and Jewelry
-Razors and Shaving Supplies
-Oral Care
-Medicine and Personal Care
Then I also have these boxes to keep organized, so I can just put things right in to the box with like items. I have one for Menards items, one for Staples Items/School Supplies and one for larger CVS items like shampoo, bodywash etc. They are pretty empty right now since we sold a TON at the rummage sale, but I'm sure will have lots more inventory soon!

Tackled two of my least favorite areas yesteday....the fridge and the microwave. I was pleasantly surprised to find only one thing to throw away in the fridge, a box of Progresso Soup Stalk that was expired. Everything else was still good. Took all the shelves out and wiped everything down and reorganized.
Then tackled the microwave (HATE THAT!). So nice to have them both clean.

My husband has been getting his classroom ready for the new school year and inspired by my purging at the house (at least that's what I tell myself) he is going through a lot of the old supplies kept in his classroom that have been there since he started teaching 6 years ago. He brought a ton of stuff home and told me to mark it for the rummage sale. I wasn't sure that was ok, but he said if we didn't sell it they were just throwing it all away because they don't use it and he had already thrown a bunch out. We tried to give some to a middle school science teacher that is a friend of ours, but he only ended up taking one box out of like 10....so here is the fun I had all weeked:

Desk Tape (1) marked .50
Pocket Scope (1) marked $2.00
History Books (6) marked .50 each
Education Videos (3) marked .50 each
Educational Videos (5) marked .25 each

Bin of Chemistry Supplies (1) marked $15.00 OBO
Mini Mirrors (24) marked $2.00 each...my Mom says these are antiques cause they are from a dinner club that burned down about 20 yrs ago...if they don't sell for $2.00 each I will mark them down lower.

Working on cleaning out my 3rd of 4 Dressers. The first drawer I have was my nylons and such. The 2nd drawer was all bras...like I said when I posted about the underwear...I used to work at JCPenney in the lingerie dept and got waaaaaay to much stuff for cheap when I worked there. It was about 10 years ago when I worked there and I definitely do not wear the same bra size anymore, so I did get rid of a ton of bras.
Still got 2 more drawers to do in this dresser, but got a good start.

Here is the before (embarrasing! I swear it's not usually this bad!)
And here is the after! I didn't find anything to sell in my nightstand, but got it reorganized, threw a few things away and found some Christmas cards that I put with my Christmas stuff so I can find them when that time comes.

I finished cleaning out all of the drawers in my first of 4 dressers.
Dresser #1:
------------Keep-----Sell------Trashed---------------
Socks-------72--------0-----------0------------------
Underwear---141-------28----------0------------------
Bikinis------7--------2-----------0------------------
Swimsuit-----1--------0-----------0------------------
Coverups-----3--------1-----------0------------------
Totals------224-------31----------0------------------
Misc Items to sell - 4
I found a few things besides clothes for the rummage sale, 2 brand new disposable cameras, craft paint, and some craft pegs. (ETA - Sold both cameras for $2.00 each at the 9/17/12 rummage sale).
I went through the drawer where I have kept my extra contacts and also some misc junk. Got rid of the junk and found out that I have 3 full boxes of contacts for each eye. I was surprised to find out that I had that many, and very happy that I found that out now as I have an eye apt this next week and I have $200 towards frames, and $150 towards either lens or contacts. I wasn't sure if I was going to get lenses or contacts. Now that I know I have so many contacts left I can get the frames and lenses with my allowance.

Alright so moving right along to my drawers in my bedroom. I got my socks and underwear done already. Now....don't judge/laugh at me about my underwear....I love underwear and I used to work at JCP in the lingerie dept when I was in highschool so I got a little addicted.....but let's just focus on the positive here, which is that I got rid of a bunch. Also not sure why I have so many pairs of socks....I don't even wear socks in the summer at all as I am a flip flop girl...but no reason to get rid of them and have to pay for them later.
Drawers:

Socks-------72--------0-----------0------------------
Underwear---141-------28----------0------------------

I was hoping to finish my closet this weekend, but I spent too much time getting sunburnt at the river...lol. All that I have left is my tshirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, sweatpants and socks. Then I can finally move on to my dressers.
Here is what I ended up with so far from my closet:
-------------Keep---Sell-----------------------------
Tanktops------96-----12------------------------------
Shirts--------61-----23------------------------------
Shorts--------41------7------------------------------
Skirts--------21------1------------------------------
Jeans---------12------1------------------------------
Khakis---------2------3------------------------------
Dress Pants---11------2------------------------------
Dress Tops----36------2------------------------------
Dresses-------11------2------------------------------
Belts---------6-------4------------------------------
Totals--------297-----57-----------------------------
Also DH has been working on his sports room which can get some misc stuff piled up in it from time to time. He brought a bunch of random art supplies up for me to mark for the rummage sale and also cleaned out the fridge, so that was a nice surprise!!

Went through my shorts, skirts, jeans, khakis, dress pants and hanging dress shirts. Making progress little by little! Can't wait to get done with my closet so I can move on to the drawers in my room. The sheer amount of stuff we are going to have for the rummage sale is insane. But this project makes me happy and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I need a pick me up.
Here is what I ended up with so far
-------------Keep---Sell------------------------------
Tanktops------96-----12-------------------------------
Shirts--------61-----23-------------------------------
Shorts--------41------7-------------------------------
Skirts--------21------1-------------------------------
Jeans---------12------1-------------------------------
Khakis---------2------3-------------------------------
Dress Pants---11------2-------------------------------
Totals--------244-----49------------------------------
Oh I also organized my tupperware cupboard. I didn't get rid of anything in there, but just got it all organized so everything fits and everything has it's matching lid.

I added a new catagory to my blog today. "Cleaning/Purging/Organizing"
Lately I have been spending a lot of time at a friends house that runs a very small daycare from home. The house is crazyness. Every inch is packed with toys, clothes, craft/art supplies and misc everything. It drives me NUTS when I am there cause I just want to organize the crap out of it....it's near hoarders status (without the dirtyness of it). So it has really got it in my head about organizing and having too much stuff. I normally do pretty good with purging things as I like to constantly be weeding out for the rummage sale and throw things away pretty quickly once their worth is gone. But I could always do better and have been feeling overwhelmed with the amount of stuff in our house lately. So I am going to try to go room by room, drawer by drawer, closet by closet to get rid of things, rediscover the forgotten, and organize and clean my home!
I actually tried to start this a few weeks ago, but I already know it's going to be a very long process as I want to do it right and completely. So I started with one of the fullest places in the house...My closet. I took all of my tank tops out of my closet and tried on every single one....then a few weeks later I did this with my nice shirts. Very exhausting!! Once I had gone through them all I folded them all neatly and put them back in color coded rows (DORK ALERT!). I already have a whole shelf cleared off just from doing those.
Here is what I ended up with so far
-------------Keep---Sell------------------------------
Tanktops------96-----12-------------------------------
Shirts--------61-----23-------------------------------
Totals-----157-----35--------------------------
Sick how much clothes I have...and that doesn't count the T-shirts, long sleeves, cardigans, hoodies, sweaters, or any of my hanging clothes..etc
So that is where I am at. Already have 35 items to get rid of at the next rummage sale.
Next I am going to tackle my shorts since it is hot as heck here and I need to see what I have to wear!

Went for a walk with DH yesterday and found a storage shelf on the curb for giveaway! I have been wanting one of these for some time to store some of our food and drink surplus.
So I moved all of the rummage sale pop and juice in there. Moved all our Powerades (bought on super sale for .68 each!) cause they were stuck in every cupboard in the kitchen. Also had a surplus of mandarin oranges and Ragu Marinara Sauce that I moved in there. On the top I have the extra dish soap. Now I have more room in our regular cupboards to keep everything nice and organized and not too crowded. Also still have tons of room on the my new shelves for stocking up on super deals!
