Tackled two of my least favorite areas yesteday....the fridge and the microwave. I was pleasantly surprised to find only one thing to throw away in the fridge, a box of Progresso Soup Stalk that was expired. Everything else was still good. Took all the shelves out and wiped everything down and reorganized.
Then tackled the microwave (HATE THAT!). So nice to have them both clean.

Rummage sale last weekend went well. DH and I made $375, rummage sale as a whole made about $2000. The items we bought to resell did really well. Snacks and the clothes I weeded out of my closet didn't go as well, but next weekend is the big city wide rummage sale and that is the one where I made $400 just in snacks last year, so I expect to make another $400 or so. Once all the deposit go through I will need to check this and make sure I have all of my numbers correct, but for now this is my best recollection of where we are at.
-We only had $130 at home that I always thought I would put more money into for the mortgage payoff, but it wasn't growing at all so I just put it towards the mortgage for September and deleted that as one of the accounts that we had money saved in.
-Somehow I underestimated our Cruise Account (HSBC account) by $205.00, so I added that to the challenge.
-We had a rummage sale last weekend (I will do a seperate post for that) and did well. Made $376, so transferred $375.00 to EF savings for that.
-DH had a little surprise bonus money, so I spread that between Vegas account (to get it to $3K), the EF (to get it to $2K) and my retirement hold account, to continue to pay back the money I borrowed from that account in June.
Current Balance $21,745.00
-$113.00 to ROTH IRA
-$130.00 to Mortgage Principle for September
+$3.00 Even Out Amount
+$15.07 ING Interest
+$19.93 Even Out Amount
+$70.00 DH bonus to EF
+$160.00 DH bonus to Vegas Account
+$205.00 Correcting HSBC Balance
+$375.00 6/24/12 Rummage Sale to EF
+$400.00 DH bonus to payback retirement hold account (now only owe $200.00 to have this all paid back)
New Balance $22,750.00
Bingo Money (cash) $1620.00
ING $19,610.00 ($4000.00 Bingo Money)
Home Improvements(cash)$345.00
HSBC $1175.00
Total = $22,750.00

DH only gets a retirement statement once a year, so I usually end up estimating all year till we get the yearly statement. Happy to report my last estimate was $3760 short of what the actual balance was.
2010 Balance $9,983.38
2011 Balance $13,322.37
2012 Balance $17,566.74

HSA went down $3000 when I paid DH's medical bills for his knee...so that was a big blow. But at least we had the money in the HSA to pay for it.
On the flip side we got DH's yearly retirement statement and it went up $3760 from my last estimate...so all in all the numbers came out ok.
After all that moving around we are up $95 for the month!

Ok this entry is waaaay overdue....but when we were gone on our cruise my Mom randomly decided to have a rummage sale and so she went down to our house and took everything up to her house and had a sale over the weekend we were gone and made a few bucks and some for us too!
DH Misc Science Supplies $4.20
Donated Items from friens $13.25
Donated Items from StepMom $4.25
My junk $4.50
Items bought specifically to resell for profit $25.50
Total $51.70
Not bad considerring I was sipping a tropical drink on a cruise ship while I was making this money!
So now I'm going to go back to the previous entries where I bought those items and update what was sold and for how much.

My husband has been getting his classroom ready for the new school year and inspired by my purging at the house (at least that's what I tell myself) he is going through a lot of the old supplies kept in his classroom that have been there since he started teaching 6 years ago. He brought a ton of stuff home and told me to mark it for the rummage sale. I wasn't sure that was ok, but he said if we didn't sell it they were just throwing it all away because they don't use it and he had already thrown a bunch out. We tried to give some to a middle school science teacher that is a friend of ours, but he only ended up taking one box out of like 10....so here is the fun I had all weeked:

Working on cleaning out my 3rd of 4 Dressers. The first drawer I have was my nylons and such. The 2nd drawer was all bras...like I said when I posted about the underwear...I used to work at JCPenney in the lingerie dept and got waaaaaay to much stuff for cheap when I worked there. It was about 10 years ago when I worked there and I definitely do not wear the same bra size anymore, so I did get rid of a ton of bras.
Still got 2 more drawers to do in this dresser, but got a good start.
-----------------Keep----------Sell-----------Toss----
Added to socks----3-------------1--------------0------
Nylons------------7-------------1--------------0------
Kneehighs---------3-------------0--------------0------
Shapers-----------4-------------0--------------0------
Tights------------6-------------0--------------0------
Bras-------------15------------11--------------6------
Added to underwear-5--so that I could sell as sets with the bras.
Totals----------43--------------13-------------6------
Got rid of 19 more items!!

Here is the before (embarrasing! I swear it's not usually this bad!)

And here is the after! I didn't find anything to sell in my nightstand, but got it reorganized, threw a few things away and found some Christmas cards that I put with my Christmas stuff so I can find them when that time comes.

1) Went and got my FREE routine eye exam. Will go back soon to pick out eyewear (I have $150 towards lenses and $200 towards frames with my insurance).
2) Went to CVS and scanned my and DH's cards at the coupon machine. Got some good coupons on both (we seem to get some the same and a few different everytime) and DH's card even printed out a coupon for a FREE Unreal bar. So I got that right away.
3) Went to Staples as they had rung up 3 of an item I bought 2 of on Tuesday and I didn't see it on the receipt till I got home. I was prepared for a battle, but I went in and nicely explained what had happened and showed my receipt and the manager credited me back the $6.99 I was overcharged, no questions asked! Go Staples! Thank you for the great customer service!
4) Called and paid the big hospital bill ($2700!) for DH's knee injury, thus avoiding any late fees or interest.
5) When I got home I had a FREE sample of Woolite Dark in the mailbox along with a $1.00 off coupon for Woolite. I signed up for this FREE sample at http://samples.target.com. If you don't already use that site, it is great for freebies!
Oh and of course I worked 8 hrs too....lol. Happy with what I got done today. Now to relax in the hot tub with my book.

One of our local grocery store gives a free item in the paper once a week. My Mom was nice enough to hoard some coupons for me that she scored. Got 9 (!!) FREE 1/2 gallons of Old Orchard Apple Juice!

I finished cleaning out all of the drawers in my first of 4 dressers.
Dresser #1:
------------Keep-----Sell------Trashed---------------
Socks-------72--------0-----------0------------------
Underwear---141-------28----------0------------------
Bikinis------7--------2-----------0------------------
Swimsuit-----1--------0-----------0------------------
Coverups-----3--------1-----------0------------------
Totals------224-------31----------0------------------
Misc Items to sell - 4
I found a few things besides clothes for the rummage sale, 2 brand new disposable cameras, craft paint, and some craft pegs. (ETA - Sold both cameras for $2.00 each at the 9/17/12 rummage sale).
I went through the drawer where I have kept my extra contacts and also some misc junk. Got rid of the junk and found out that I have 3 full boxes of contacts for each eye. I was surprised to find out that I had that many, and very happy that I found that out now as I have an eye apt this next week and I have $200 towards frames, and $150 towards either lens or contacts. I wasn't sure if I was going to get lenses or contacts. Now that I know I have so many contacts left I can get the frames and lenses with my allowance.

My Mom got me this box of birdhouse home decor she found at a rummage sale and gave to me to wash up and mark for the rummage sale. It was only $2.00 total for everything, plus came in a really nice plastic tote that was worth more then $2.00 by itself. So I took all the stuff and my Mom took the tote. I washed everything up and marked each item from $1 to $3, if I sell it all I will make a profit of $14.00.
*ETA - Sold 3 out of the 9 items for $3.50 at 8/24/12 rummage sale
*ETA - Sold the last 6 items for $12.50 at the 9/7/12 rummage sale - Total profit on the box, $14.00!!

I don't normally shop at Family Dollar. I had a bad customer service experience there once and it really turned me off from them. But today I stopped in there on my way home to get a bottle of Dawn that was a good deal.
Dawn Dish Soap 20oz
Regular Price $1.25
-.37 Sale Price
-.50 Mfr Coupon
Final Price .38
I think I may try to look at shopping there more cause I saw a lot of things that I would normally buy at Target for $2-$3 that they have for $1.00.

I decided to put my OT pay towards the mortgage balance. I will keep putting any other extra monies into savings as normal. Then put our normal principle payment plus any OT pay to the house. I get paid tomorrow and have $135.00 in OT pay, so I will save that plus the next paychecks OT pay and put it towards Septembers principle payment.
