Banker Gurl's More Bang For Your Buck!

We are back from Laughlin/Vegas! We had a lot of fun and overall had a very cheap vaca, we only had to take $605 out of savings! I am excited that we were able to hang on above $18K!! Now back to the grind until our next vaca at the end of July.

We are still working on getting a renter for my old house (Rental #2). I have not advertised it to strangers yet, still hoping maybe we can find a friend/family member before we have to do that, but if something doesn't come up in the next few weeks we will need to open it to the masses as I don't want to miss more then one months rent.

Spring Cleaning mode has hit me and I feel totally overwhelmed with all the cleaning, organizing, lawn work, repairs that need to get done! Time to make a list to get some organization and planning implemented!

So I went out of state last weekend to do bridesmaid dress shopping, everything went great, lots of fun with the bride and the other bridesmaids....then on the long drive home I get a text that the wedding is postponed?!!? No details. WTH. Thank goodness I didn't pay for my dress yet! Hoping everything works out because the Bride and Groom are really the best and so great together.


Then totally separate.....we thought it was weird that our family friend (FF) was moving out of our rental #2, he isn't buying a house, or moving in with someone new....he told MO he was moving because "he is a wanderer, and he has been there too long and needs to move on".....super weird. He only pays $600 a month for half of a 4 bedroom home, with fenced yard, hot tub, 2 stall garage, etc. It's a great deal and I can't image he can get a better deal somewhere else.

Then a few days after FF gives his notice, my BIL calls to tell MO, that his wife told him she wants a divorce....and she is moving into an apt with her BF....our FAMILY FRIEND/TENANT. Everyone is shocked and upset. I have thought for a long time that SIL and FF were too close, and I even called her out on it once, but of course she denied it and said they were just friends. UGH. I feel so terrible for my BIL, FF was one of his best friends, and he had no idea about anything. Also BIL's brother (a 3rd brother to MO and BIL) was living with FF this whole time that the sneaking around was going on! Very brazen SIL I have....

Yes!! A great update! MO got his bonus, a lot of it was used to pay catch-up from overspending, but still able to put $500 in savings, plus we are looking good in checking.

My cousin came and looked at Rental #2, he is very interested and wants to see if his camper will fit on the parking pad next to the house. Sounds like as long as that works out he will want to move in! Fingers crossed!

Well my renters in Rental #2 gave their 30 day notice yesterday. That is good news and bad news. It is bad news because it is never fun to have someone move out, have to get the place cleaned up again, and find new renters. Good news is that the renters that were living there were a friend of MO's, and also Mo's brother. Since it was family we were renting the place for less then we could get in the market $1200...so now we can list it for more! I put it up on my FB page last night for $1500 and already have a few bites. Most promising is my 1st cousin and his GF. I also would be fine lowering the rent for them to $1300, still $100 more then we were getting, and someone I trust in my house. They are coming to look at the place tomorrow, hopefully that will work out!

Spa day for the girls is $100+ each which includes a bath, haircut, nail trim, etc. MO decided to buy a pet trimmer and try to do the haircuts himself, which would save us a LOT of money. The trimmer was $65 + $15 for a two year warranty. Hoping it works for him to do the trimming as that would save us about $800 a year! We shall see how it goes.

Just a little update. Right now we are overspending and just trying to hold onto the $16K. Won't be making any big deposits for sometime unless MO gets his bonus (hopefully on his next payday which is next Friday).

I was walking through the mall last weekend and saw that Torrid had their clearance Buy One, get TWO Free! So I stopped in to see what they had for clearance. The price were still super high, like only $10 off $60 items.....not what I would call clearance. But since you got two items free I looked around and I found a super cute dress that I can wear for weddings this summer! It was $68.90, clearanced to $58.00. Still a lot for me to spend on a dress. But I looked around some more and found this adorable Mickey Mouse purses, they were the same price as the dress, and I could get 2 for free if I bought the dress. So I did that and am selling the purses for $30 each....which means FREE dress for me! YEAH!!!!!
After I did this deal my Mom stopped in and got 3 more of the purses for us to sell as joint items and those ones we can make a little profit on!

Our home mortgage monthly payment changed from $1681.80 to $1672.89, a difference of $8.91 per month. Rather then forget about that $8.91 savings per month, I have set up a new automatic deposit for the same date that we pay our mortgage, to pull $10 from checking to savings! That's an extra $120 in savings with no changes to our cash flow!

Tomorrow we are going to go on a mini casino vaca with our 2016 Weekly Challenge Money. Whatever we bring home we will move to our normal savings accounts. It will be a nice little time away and hopefully we can bring home a good chunk for savings and pass $15K!
