BF and I have been planning on opening a savings account together for awhile, but hadn't gotten around to it yet, and had just been setting our money aside together in an envelope for now. We finally got it opened today, and what a good day to get around to it! They were having a Black Friday sale, $100 bonus for new savers! Since BF has never had a savings account with them he qualified! You do have to open it with a $1000 deposit to get that, but we just opened it with the $1000 and once it is available will transfer it back out. Our opening deposit was $235, + $100.00 bonus, so we already have $335! YEAH!

We also set up auto deposits on each of our paydays of $25. So our account will go up $100 a month.

Alright, please don't flame me for this...but I decided to give BF $500 for his deductible for his truck. He did not ask me to, or hint at this in any way, it was my decision. My reasoning was he does so much for me (emotionally, financially, physically, everything!) and is always totally selfless. I am the one that hit the deer, I understand that could have happened to anyone, and that I am in no way obligated to pay his deductible, but it is what I want to do. I am also in a much better position financially then he is. The truck was his grandpa's (who passed away a few years ago) and it had a lot of sentimental value to him. We still don't know if the truck will be totaled out or not, but I feel good about this decision and if he decides to not accept it, or give it back after everything is figured out with the insurance then that is fine too, and I can just put it back in savings then. I gave him the check already, he said he didn't want me to do that, but I left it at his house so he can do what he wants to with it.

BF and I have hit a series of unfortunate events.....

Last week I was up visiting BF and my Dad needed me to run an errand for him, he has a rental in a town jut 10 mins from BF and I needed to run a tool from one town to the other for him...while doing this I ran over a cat. I have never hit anything (car, animal, etc.) before. It just ran straight into the road (I was in a business area, not residential) and I slammed on the brakes when it ran into the road, but wasn't able to stop on time...I was pretty hysterical and went straight to BFs work and he went to check on the cat, but sadly it was already dead. It did not have a collar and BF said they have a problem with stray cats in the area, so I am hoping at least that it wasn't someone's pet...but was still terrible and emotionally draining on me. Poor kitty.

Then last weekend BF got hit was $750 in fees when he was hunting. This was his fault....but he was trying to get deer to help feed his family. He shot a deer for his sister, she wasn't with (she was on the way, she does have a hunting license, and a deer tag)and the game warden came. The game warden was nice about it as BF has never had any other infractions, and he is working with the county commissioner to see if there is anyway to get the fees reduced. On the plus side of that, they did let him keep the deer, his guns, his truck and his hunting priveleges...so it could have been A LOT worse. Also his sister felt really bad about the whole thing and gave him $300 to help with the fees. In the end it was his decision to shoot the deer when she wasn't there, and he has learned his (very expensive) lesson. He definitely won't be shooting deer for his sisters again, they will have to get their own.


Then last night we were driving home from out of town, his Mom lives about 2 hrs away and we went up to help her insulate and winterize. On the way home BF was very tired so I said I would drive his truck so he could nap (2:30am) about 20 mins from home a deer jumped out of the ditch and I had no chance to stop. I slammed the brakes but we hit the deer pretty squarely. BF has a big truck, so the deer had no chance, it went under the vehicle and I am sure died instantly. The truck was still drivable, so BF took over and drove for about 5 mins, but then the safety features on the vehicle kicked in and it wouldn't keep driving anymore because it was leaking fluids. BF thinks the transmission is done for. Luckily for us a trucker stopped and took us and BFs dog home...who knows how long we would have been out in sub zero temps if he hadn't come along. This was in a very rural area so there isn't anyone to call except friends/family. The tow truck came today and brought the truck home (the closest tow truck company is over an hr away, luckily BF has road side assistance so he didn't have to pay anything for that). He has a deductible of $500, we will have to see if the truck is totaled out or not. It is a 2000 Ford F150 and already some other damage to the windshield and passenger door, so it might actually be a good thing if it is totaled, but we shall see....either way....I am ready for this series of unfortunate events to be over!!

I won my diet bet! YEAH! BF and I were both doing diet bets through dietbetter.com. I lost 7.8lbs and he lost 12.6 and we each won $52.08! SWEET!

For the Softsoap Bodywash....I used to be able to get that a lot cheaper, so I would sell it on FB for $3.00 each for 4 for $10, cause I had a ton of them, so then I could get rid of a lot fast. Since I don't get it as cheap anymore, I don't advertise the deal anymore, just the $3.00 each, but I have 3 people that buy from me regularily and one of them came over last week and spent almost $30, so I was ok with still giving her the deal.

I completed a focus group for my bank last week. It was only an hour long and they had drinks and snacks provided as well. My reward was a $100 MasterCard Giftcard that I can use anywhere! I plan on doing a CVS Challenge with this giftcard.

Discover Card sent me a $5 Starbucks card in the mail for no reason! YEAH! I don't drink coffee, and Starbucks is too expensive for my tastes, but I do enjoy a Frappuccino as a treat, so I will use that fo a Frap next week!

BF got some winners on Monopoly pieces from McDonalds. A free fry and a free $10 Target giftcard! I have to redeem it online which I have not done yet, but will do this week.

I came home yesterday from work to see BF's truck in the driveway...I was very confused as he had no plans to come down that day and he hadn't told me he was in town (he lives about an hr away)...I went inside thinking he just got off of work early and decided to come see me...and what do I find??? BF has bought and installed this beautiful brand new dishwasher for me! Isn't it awesome!




What a great present (for no reason?!)! I did need a new dishwasher, mine has been leaking water onto the floor for a long time, somewhere around a year or so, so everytime I used it I had to put a towel down and sadly it was starting to warp the flooring...and a few days ago I turned it on and then left the house and when I got home it smelled like something was burning and the smell was coming from the dishwasher...yikes! So I was super excited. Can't believe how lucky I am to have found such a sweet, caring, funny, sexy, amazing man!!

I paid my home insurance for the year ($1335.00)and my car insurance which is bi-yearly ($165.55). I took the money for the home insurance out of savings. I am hoping I can swing the money for the car insurance out of checking. I still have another car repair I need to do ASAP, so may be going down more....but BF and his Dad were going to see if they could do the repair. That would certainly help me a lot!

I bought some Nexium and sold it to my coworker on my lunch break...not a huge profit, but a nice turnaround for 10 mins! I think I can swing paying for the hot tub cover ($300) without taking out of savings, but the car repair is too high, so had to take out for that....oh well, that is why we have savings!

BF knows I have a major passion for savings and we have discussed it and decided to open a joint savings account. Nothing crazy, just $25.00 per paycheck from each of us, so $100 per month. We have some lofty goals for the future, and this will be a baby step towards those!

We also had $35 in change from our trip to Laughlin, so we will use that when we open it along with our initial $25 each.
